The first reason is my depth of experience. For the last 30 years, I have been successfully selling software products: Databases, DBA Tools, Business Intelligence, NoSQL, Big Data, AI, Machine Learning, Development tools, BPM, APIs and professional services to businesses across multiple industries: automotive manufacturing, banking, finance, insurance, healthcare and retail. Additionally, these companies have spanned in size from startups on up to the Fortune 50.

My next reason is that sales requires a tremendous balance and diligence in outbound and inbound lead generation where making cold calls to discover qualified leads is a very important talent to possess. Further qualification of those leads, in turn, creates a sustainable pipeline of real opportunities. I have always worked very hard within a defined sales process to cold call and find deals to make sales to over-achieve the assigned sales quotas monthly and quarterly.

Lastly, my success comes from constantly refining my phone scripts or approaches to discussions with decision makers; finding what the target business is having pains with and how my product or service will help them. This must be done to be prepared for closing on that first appointment.
